Ready to drive environmental sustainability in Scotland’s most ambitious energy infrastructure projects? Sustainable Futures Group (SFG) is proud to partner with a major UK infrastructure contractor to recruit a Senior Environmental Sustainability Advisor for a landmark energy infrastructure programme based near Peterhead, Scotland. This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior environmental role that blends field-based impact, stakeholder influence, and critical infrastructure delivery - all in a role where you can see the tangible results of your work every single day.

Why Peterhead? Set on Scotland’s dramatic northeast coast, Peterhead offers a unique blend of industry and nature. From rugged shorelines and rich ecology to active harbour life and proximity to remote habitats, it’s an incredible base for environmental professionals who value variety, visibility, and meaningful impact. This isn’t a desk job — this is a boots-on-the-ground role where your expertise will help protect and enhance the environment while supporting some of the UK’s most vital infrastructure upgrades.

About the Projects You’ll play a key role across a suite of high-profile energy transmission and substation upgrade projects in the region, including:

  • Full replacement of ageing substations and associated demolition
  • Delivery of two new-build substations including civil engineering, drainage, and security infrastructure
  • Complex underground cabling works and enabling site packages

With construction activity already underway on some sites, your presence on site will be essential to driving high environmental standards from mobilisation through to delivery.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Leading environmental and sustainability efforts across multiple active construction sites
  • Reviewing and delivering environmental management plans, permits, and consents
  • Conducting regular site inspections, audits, toolbox talks and assurance activities
  • Advising site teams, senior project managers and construction leads on environmental risks, compliance, and improvement opportunities
  • Managing environmental incidents, reporting and corrective actions

What We’re Looking For:

  • Demonstrable professional experience in environmental management on infrastructure, construction, energy, or linear projects (e.g., rail, highways, utilities, civils)
  • Good working knowledge of UK environmental legislation, licensing and compliance processes
  • Ability to challenge and influence project teams with credibility and confidence
  • Comfortable working on active construction sites, conducting inspections, and identifying issues on the ground
  • Excellent reporting, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills

What’s on Offer:

  • A competitive basic salary
  • Choice of a Company Car or Car Allowance
  • Subsistence Allowance
  • Annual Bonus Scheme
  • Structured training, support and career development opportunities
  • Pension scheme, share incentive plan, and other core benefits
  • Work in a region with genuine environmental complexity and visibility
  • Be part of a supportive, growing team of 25+ environmental sustainability professionals across Scotland

Why Join?

  • Critical Project – Work on high-value, nationally significant energy infrastructure upgrades
  • Team Culture – Collaborative, technically strong team led by experienced environmental managers
  • Career Progression – With strong organisational backing for your growth and development
  • Site Impact – You’ll be empowered to lead from the front, influence decisions, and leave a legacy

This is more than just another environmental role - it’s a real chance to shape infrastructure that matters, in a role where your expertise will be recognised and respected. Apply now through Sustainable Futures Group (SFG) – Global Recruitment Experts in Sustainability, ESG & HSE.
