You must hold current NRSWA and accreditations (minimum SA002 and N23) and be highly competent in cabling, splicing, and testing, although these hands-on tasks are not a daily part of this specific role. Excellent communication, people management, and customer-facing skills are essential. You will need the ability to engage effectively with internal planning, project, and delivery teams, and represent the company professionally to external parties, including regional representatives. A key part of your role is acting as an ambassador for quality, driving high standards throughout the build phase to ensure successful audits and commissioning. You will be responsible for building and maintaining strong working relationships with Persimmon site managers, project managers, groundworkers, and contractors. You must possess an in-depth understanding of the work programme and be empowered to make real-time decisions that contribute to its successful delivery. This includes representing FibreNest effectively during high-profile site visits, demonstrating strong stakeholder management skills across all field operations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee all field health, safety, and wellbeing, including risk assessments, reporting, vehicle checks, and audits.
  • Build and prepare the Access Network, from cabinets to customer premises (including rodding, cabling, splicing, testing, commissioning, customer handover).
  • Assist with installing and commissioning of new street cabinets and 3rd party connections (planning, surveying, site visits).
  • Expertly locate and repair network faults using tools like OTDR, OPM, LFD, and VFL.
  • Promote FibreNest's quality standards with Persimmon Homes and stakeholders.
  • Ensure network builds meet quality, budget, and service standards through regular checks against technical specifications.
  • Continuously seek to improve processes and efficiency.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Engage with teams on live developments to ensure high standards.
  • Report regularly to the Regional Manager/Supervisor on build safety and quality.
  • Keep network records accurate (provide images, diagrams, test results).
  • Perform other relevant duties as requested by management.

What experience do I need?

  • Full UK driving license (max 6 points).
  • Solid understanding of optical network construction and maintenance.
  • Experience in fibre-optic installation, splicing, and distribution.
  • Good knowledge of UK telecoms networks.
  • Self-starter, able to work quickly in a dynamic environment.
