We are seeking a BTEC Tutor to support the delivery of BTEC Engineering training to apprentices at our state-of-the-art training hub in Aston. The role involves teaching a range of level 2-4 engineering qualifications, with a focus on supporting apprentices to work semi-independently on Engineering Projects. The post holder will work within our Lean Academy to develop skills across levels 2 and 3 in preparation for EPA. Candidates should have broad experience in the engineering/manufacturing sector, be confident in collaborating with employers and team members, and support apprentices to reach their potential.

Responsibilities

  • Teach across a range of BTEC level 3 units, including Engineering Project, Communications, and Business Improvement Techniques.
  • Model delivery excellence and professional behaviours.
  • Manage and oversee the progress and achievement of apprentices' Engineering Projects.
  • Coordinate effectively with external delivery team members.
  • Communicate and advocate for Make UK in interactions with employer partners.
  • Provide support techniques for learners requiring additional assistance.
  • Develop course materials, including handouts and reference resources.
  • Deliver training that meets all Awarding Body and Centre standards.
  • Create a motivating learning environment that promotes skill acquisition.
  • Assess learner progress using various methods, providing feedback and progress reports, including identifying at-risk learners.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and constructive feedback to learners, colleagues, and employers.
  • Maintain learner discipline in accordance with Centre policies.
  • Ensure the health and safety of learners and staff.

Requirements

  • Technical knowledge and experience.
  • Relevant Level 4 or higher qualification in a subject area. Level 3 or higher teacher training qualification.
  • Empathy with young people, with the ability to plan, deliver training, and assess outcomes.
  • Logical problem-solving skills.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, literate and numerate.
  • Ability to motivate learners and command respect.
