We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join a well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy with offices across the UK. With over 35 staff operating from three regional offices, the business provides structural, civil, and geo-environmental engineering services for clients across a range of sectors including residential, commercial, education, healthcare, and heritage.
With a strong reputation built over decades, the consultancy delivers design-led engineering solutions across projects typically ranging from £500k to £30m. This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer with 6+ years' UK consultancy experience who is looking for greater project autonomy, team involvement, and the opportunity to contribute technically to a wide range of interesting work. The position will be based in their Derby office, with flexible working options available.
Job Overview- Lead and manage structural engineering projects
- Prepare structural calculations and oversee technical delivery across a variety of materials and building types
- Carry out structural surveys, inspections, and prepare detailed technical reports
- Manage junior engineers and support team development
- Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, and other consultants
- Ensure compliance with building regulations, codes of practice, and internal quality standards
- Assist in fee proposals and resource planning
- Attend site and design team meetings as required
- Degree-qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering (MEng or BEng)
- Minimum 6 years' experience in a UK consultancy environment
- Chartered or working towards chartership (ICE or IStructE)
- Strong technical delivery skills across multiple structural materials
- Experience managing your own projects and/or leading small design teams
- Survey and Report writing experience
- Familiar with relevant software packages (e.g., Tekla, Tedds, Revit, AutoCAD)
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to site as required
- Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 DOE
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
