Nuclear Restoration Services Limited (NRS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). NRS is responsible for decommissioning first generation nuclear power stations and research sites. NRS is also responsible for electricity generation at a hydroelectric plant.

About the role:
Managing the Quality Assurance of radioactive waste records is a key part of the support required to operations. It includes activities to ensure that waste is processed in compliance with Safety Case requirements and that a compliant waste package record is created and acceptable to Nuclear Waste Services and other partners for future off-site transfer. We welcome an individual that can bring strong leadership and high accuracy to the waste records management, data acquisition and data processing activities in support of all aspects of waste processing and records management.
Key Deliverables:
- Provide effective leadership of Quality Assured waste records and associated management and operations support activities.
- Use Access© and Paradox© databases holding radioactive waste inventory data and safety case information.
- Perform the duties of a Nuclear Material Custodian, including inventory taking and ensuring the Magnox accountancy system for Nuclear Material is accurate and updated.
- Be responsible for the quality and management of waste records in both paper and electronic formats.
- Manage team workload, people, performance, staff development, control and supervision, event reporting, learning, communications and team competency assessments.
- Ensure key documentation including working instructions, specifications, and technical reference documents are available and accurate.
- Support the interface between the B462 facility and the Harwell site Waste Team.
- Champion compliance with all SSHEQ policies, procedures, work instructions and risk assessments.
- There may be a requirement to undertake emergency scheme duties.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience of nuclear waste management, covering a broad range of alpha, beta and gamma emitting wastes in differing forms (essential).
- A Degree or equivalent in a relevant scientific, environmental or Engineering subject or NQF level 5 (essential).
- Knowledge of practices, policies, legislation and stakeholders relating to radioactive and non-radioactive waste management (essential).
- Experience in developing waste inventories and associated electronic and hard copy records management (essential).
- Strong IT skills, knowledge of relational databases an advantage.
- Knowledge of the types of operational and safety controls that can be applied within a Nuclear facility.
