Questech are recruiting on behalf of our client in Halifax, West Yorkshire for an experienced Fitter / Tester to undertake the assembly, testing, instrumentation, and associated tasks. The Person:
- Ideally HNC qualified or have other relevant qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years’ previous experience of working in a Valves & Controls manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience of project and process development work desirable.
- Working knowledge of computer packages such as Word and Excel desirable.
- Heavy lifting may be required, equipment weighing up to 15kg.
The Role:
- Establish the tasks required and how they should be carried out, which may involve the adaptation of existing methods and procedures.
- Maintain Health & Safety standards within area.
- Participate in both department projects and overall operations projects when required.
- Improve quality and eliminate errors.
- Improve customer satisfaction.
- Able to work as part of a team or under own initiative.
- Maintain operational logs for equipment as necessary.
- Lead or participate in lean activities to continually improve the operational effectiveness of the process and areas.
- Complete in progress check sheet for all valves built.
- Develop, maintain and adhere to SOP (Standard Operating Procedures).
- Help to define, diagnose and solve problems as part of a team using a logical and disciplined approach (i.e. 8D).
- To identify cost cutting activities within the area.
- To be flexible and work in bottleneck areas within your skill level.
- To maintain a “can do” attitude.
- Share experience and knowledge with other personnel where appropriate.
- Check test equipment is fit for purpose and highlight any concerns.
- Hydro test body and seat, FE testing and vacuum testing of valves to weir procedures, this includes ASME procedures.
- Interface with customer or third party inspectors where required.
- Input data on system for valves which have passed and failed test with reason code so information can be used for first time pass analysis.
- Ensure all work personally undertaken within TFT is carried out in compliance with current H&S rules and TFT safety systems and is in line with the requirements of the TFT duty of care document.
This role is working Monday to Thursday - Days Only. 4 Day working week - working compressed hours. The salary is £35,000pa - Excellent benefits package included.
