We have a new opportunity for a Technical Lead Designer with a proven track record of leading an effective design team and supporting the Design Manager in all aspects of design from concept through to completion.
The Role:
- Demonstrate effective leadership and direction to a team of designers to ensure successful delivery of detailed production drawings as per the technical requirements, client specifications and contractual obligations of allocated projects.
- Drive the design programme for multiple projects in line with the overall project milestones.
- Co-ordinate the entire design process to enable effective delivery of drawings for client sign off and production purposes.
- Resource planning - ensure optimum use of all resources available to enable successful delivery of the design programme.
- Develop and upskill the design team to their full potential.
- Develop a continuous improvement mindset amongst the team.
- Understand and effectively communicate project requirements including client briefs & technical details.
- Organise and chair design co-ordination and design progress meetings with the design team and production.
- Ensure effective communication amongst all stakeholders including clients, Project Managers, Production & Site Install Team.
- Oversee the document control process, supported by a Document Controller.
Who are we looking for?
- 5 years experience of people management within a similar design environment preferably within the marine fit out industry.
- Strong leadership skills, with a can-do and collaborative approach.
- Enthusiastic team player, able to listen, understand, engage and motivate, and with confidence to make decisions when required.
- A desire to constantly learn, improve and share knowledge and experience.
- A thorough understanding of both the design and manufacturing processes, and the interface between them.
- Good collaborative planning skills.
- Thorough understanding of 3D design (Solidworks) and BIM, with a desire to drive improvements.
- Excellent communication skills, both at the personal level and more formal reporting level.
