Purpose
Under the direction of the Head Chef and within the limits of established procedures, to maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen, crockery, cutlery and all kitchen equipment.
Responsibilities
- To maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen according to standards set, and in line with health and safety and environmental health regulations.
- To use cleaning materials in the correct quantities and fashion.
- To use mechanical and electrical equipment correctly and safely.
- To ensure that all utensils and equipment are cleaned and stored correctly.
- To aid in basic food preparation when required.
- To upkeep the kitchen working area to a high standard of health and safety.
- To ensure that a high standard of personal hygiene and appearance is maintained at all times.
- Any other duties relevant and related to the post.
Educational qualifications
None required. Basic Food Hygiene is desirable.
Skills and Experience
No previous kitchen portering experience is necessary. An enthusiastic, hard working individual who has a positive, can do attitude.
