To provide a safe and high-quality service throughout the facility while maintaining good operational procedures and fostering positive relationships between the service and members of the public.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a climbing instructor service.
  • Perform climbing wall duties, including route setting and administrative tasks related to the wall.
  • Manage media for the Climbing Centre in collaboration with others (e.g., Principal Sports & Leisure Officer and Corporate Communications).
  • Carry out any other duties reasonably required, as agreed with management.

The Individual

  • Previous experience working with people.
  • Experience in instructing/coaching climbing in a similar environment.
  • Qualified CWA / SPA.
  • Strong and confident climber.
  • Excellent customer care skills.
  • Ability to follow routines and procedures.
  • Flexible approach to work.
  • Observational skills for effective management of the wall and its users.
  • Experience in creative and safe route setting.
  • Active listening and effective communication skills for interacting with the public and staff.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift and carry reasonable weights and move equipment in accordance with handling regulations.
  • Ability to bend and stretch for cleaning tasks.
  • Flexibility to meet the needs of the service.
