A fast-growing tech company working at the intersection of machine learning and complex engineering, with a particular focus on helping manufacturers design and deliver better products, faster and more sustainably. Their software uses advanced, data-efficient AI to solve challenging problems in system design and calibration. Backed by major industry investors and recognised in national innovation awards, they’re scaling rapidly with a focus on impactful, real-world applications of machine learning.

Looking for a Software Delivery Manager to help bring structure, clarity, and forecasting to their internal software delivery. You’ll work alongside product and engineering teams to drive project planning, improve delivery processes, and ensure projects are well-forecasted, tracked, and delivered on time and within budget. This is not a people management role (yet), but a highly cross-functional one that requires visibility across the whole development pipeline – from initial scoping to delivery and close collaboration with technical teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and forecast software delivery based on available resources, deadlines, and business goals.
  • Improve project visibility through better sprint planning, metrics, and automated reporting (using tools like Jira).
  • Drive agile practices (Scrum/Kanban) and balance them with traditional project methods when appropriate.
  • Report effectively to stakeholders with reliable data and clear updates.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, finance, and technical leads.
What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Building accurate delivery forecasts and timelines.
  • Helping teams shape and scope new projects from early concept to delivery.
  • Understanding how much work they can take on based on team capacity.
  • Supporting a shift toward more productised, software-led delivery.
  • Supporting internal delivery – no customer ownership, but may work closely with teams that do.
The Candidate:Must-Have:
  • Strong experience delivering software projects end-to-end.
  • Excellent planning, forecasting, and project tracking skills.
  • Hands-on experience with agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
  • Proficient with tools like Jira and able to create meaningful reports.
  • Confident working across teams and managing multiple priorities.
Nice-to-Have:
  • Exposure to AI/ML or a fast-learning mindset.
  • Background in deep tech, engineering, or complex software environments.
  • Understanding of metrics, forecasting, and delivery KPIs.
  • Project management certifications (e.g., Scrum Master, PMP, PRINCE2) - not essential but definitely beneficial.
Technical Background:
  • Strong engineering understanding (you don’t need to code, but must “get it”).
  • Not overly corporate or process-heavy with no hands-on experience.
  • Not purely execution-focused without strategic or operational understanding.
  • Someone who can do the work and optimise how it’s done.
