We are recruiting on behalf of a progressive business at the forefront of the UK's fresh produce sector. With a legacy in premium fruit production and an exciting expansion plan, our client is shaping the future of British horticulture. As their Growing Manager, you’ll be responsible for delivering world-class standards across fruit production. This role holds full responsibility for the life cycle of the fruit crops, working closely with senior leadership and agronomy experts to ensure exceptional yield, quality, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Crop Management: Active involvement in growing all fruit crops, working alongside the Farm Manager. Full responsibility for propagation, planting, and ongoing crop care. Conducting crop walks, inspections, and sample analysis to monitor plant health.
  • Pest & Disease Control: Planning and execution of pest and disease management strategies. Monitoring traps and leading IPM practices in collaboration with agronomists.
  • Labour & Team Leadership: Overseeing husbandry teams, setting piecework rates, and coordinating workloads. Succession planning and mentoring, with a focus on performance management.
  • Innovation & Projects: Lead growing trials (varieties, techniques, labour-saving initiatives). Involved in seasonal extension strategies and heated/protected cropping projects.
  • Environmental Control: Manage climate systems and production environments for optimal growing conditions.
  • Strategic Input: Work closely with the Head of Fresh to develop and refine production strategies. Remain engaged with industry developments, research, and networking opportunities.
