An exciting opportunity for a Duty Security Manager who will ensure the effective day-to-day management of the security team, ensuring the consistent delivery of safety, service excellence, and professionalism across the 1.2 million sq ft campus. Working under the guidance of the Security Account Manager and Head of Security & Infrastructure, you will uphold a secure environment for all staff, students, tenants, visitors, and contractors by strictly adhering to the site\’s Assignment Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures. This role also encompasses leadership of team performance, training & development, welfare, and engagement, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and exceptional customer service.
This site is located at the north of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and provides over one million sq. ft of space for creatives and digital companies. The technology and innovation campus encompasses a community of over 4,500 people working across academic institutions, corporate and a wide range of start-ups.

  • Location: Hackney / Stratford
  • Pay Rate: £17.70 per hour
  • Hours: Average 42 hours per week
  • Shifts: 4 On 4 Off – Days, Nights & Weekends

Requirements:

  • SIA Door Supervisor & CCTV is required
  • Valid First Aid Certificate.
  • Security management / supervisory / team leadership experience is required of at least 2 years
  • Excellent service excellence and attention to detail skills
  • Strong leadership, proactive, adaptable, management & prioritising skills
  • Strong IT (Word, Outlook & Excel) and telephony skills
  • Strong incident report and writing skills
  • Well-presented and excellent communication skills
  • First Aid qualification, Banksman, Fire Marshall & IOSH is a bonus.
  • Be confident you are able to undertake 100% of all specific duties.
  • Be able to provide all the documentation and vetting information requested.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example in delivering exceptional service to all customers, tenants, and visitors. Ensure your team consistently embodies the Polite, Positive, and Professional approach.
  • Take charge of incident response procedures, coordinating your team effectively while managing communications with the Security Control Room (SCR) and senior management. Ensure all incidents are logged accurately and follow-up actions are taken.
  • Oversee internal and external patrols across the 1.2 million sq ft campus, ensuring comprehensive coverage. Escalate hazards, health & safety risks, and suspicious activity to the SCR and ensure issues are followed up appropriately.
  • Allocate team members to external static posts to maintain a strong security presence. Be prepared to perform and supervise these duties, including standing for extended periods when necessary.
  • Act as a First Responder and ensure team members are appropriately trained and confident in administering first aid and responding to emergencies.
  • Perform and coordinate Fire Marshal duties, ensuring all team members are briefed on fire evacuation procedures and refuge point responsibilities.
  • Supervise Banksman duties and coordinate safe vehicle movements, particularly in high-traffic or construction areas. Ensure compliance with site traffic protocols.
  • Liaise with the Events Team to deliver seamless security coverage for on-site events, managing team deployment, access control, and crowd safety.
  • Supervise Loading Bay and Dock Office duties, ensuring efficient parcel management, contractor coordination, and adherence to booking procedures.
  • Adopt a proactive approach to problem-solving. Guide your team in identifying potential issues before they escalate and implementing practical solutions swiftly.
  • Remain adaptable to last-minute taskings or changes, coordinating your team effectively to meet operational needs without compromising service quality.
  • Ensure all staff are correctly uniformed, equipped, and deployed. Monitor attendance, punctuality, conduct performance and welfare checks, and promote a positive, motivated team culture in line with the Here East core values of Care, Courage and Collaborate.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Act on direction from the Head of Security & Infrastructure, Security Account Manager, and wider Here East Management Team to deliver operational excellence.
  • Lead by example with a smart, punctual, and professional appearance, ensuring the team maintains high uniform standards and a friendly, first-class service excellence approach.
  • Promote a culture of service excellence-ensuring every tenant, visitor, student and colleague is treated with respect and professionalism at all times.
  • Provide fair and supportive leadership, addressing performance concerns and enforcing policies in line with the site Assignment Instructions and Standards Operating Procedures.
  • Conduct regular spot-checks, training exercises, standards walks, performance reviews (including 121\’s and probation appraisals) and welfare checks to maintain and develop team standards.
  • Manage the deployment timetable and ensure Officers are appropriately assigned, rotated, and briefed. Adjust deployment dynamically to meet operational needs while considering Officer welfare.
  • Ensure all Officers have the correct uniform, PPE, SIA licenses, equipment, and understand their assigned roles before deployment.
  • Oversee attendance, punctuality, and timekeeping. Monitor TimeGate records and apply disciplinary actions when necessary in line with company HR processes (including attendance tracking tools such as Bradford Factor scores).
  • Perform and supervise duties and respond to last-minute or adhoc taskings with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
  • Respond and strategically co-ordinate incident management, utilising the teams strengths, in line with the site Assignment Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintain and update electronic systems such as Genetec, Data Station, TimeGate, Kinexio, Records for Buildings and incident reporting tools. Oversee the review and storage of CCTV and Body Worn Camera footage in compliance with DPA-2018.
  • Ensure high standards of documentation and team p-file housekeeping, including contractor monitoring forms, work permits, training matrix etc.
  • Confidently manage and contribute to security operations documentation, including incident reports, internal reviews, and departmental communications.
  • Undertake HR responsibilities and housekeeping such as conducting internal investigations, minute taking, conduct disciplinaries in line with company HR procedures, return to work forms, Relief Officer welfare forms, team DSE forms, probation reviews, welfare reviews etc.
  • Ensure the security team operates in compliance with health & safety legislation, company policy, and site-specific risk assessments and standard operating procedures.
  • Actively participate in departmental meetings, contribute to operational planning, and provide feedback and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Support the Head of Security & Infrastructure, Security Account Manager and Assistant Account Manager on wider projects and strategic initiatives.
