A great opportunity for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join a dedicated IT team. This role offers flexibility in terms of office location across our various branches. This would suit someone looking to expand their skills and experience in Azure Cloud, but with strong experience in core on-premise infrastructure. There will be requirement to travel to other offices therefore a full current driving license and use of your own vehicle (covered by business insurance) is required for the position.
As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will be at the forefront of managing a hybrid on-premises and Azure cloud infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and reliability, as part of our forward-thinking team in addition to:
- Supporting the day-to-day management of our existing IT systems and hybrid cloud infrastructure, including monitoring, patching, and upgrades.
- Architect and deploy solutions inside Azure that are interoperable with existing on-premises infrastructure, facilitating a migration to the cloud.
- Deploy, configure, and manage on-premises infrastructure components such as servers, networking equipment, and storage devices.
- Provision and optimise resources within Azure, including virtual machines, networking, security, backup and storage services; monitoring and remediating as required.
- Establish secure and reliable connectivity between on-premises data centres, branch offices, and Azure via IPVPN, MPLS, and DSL.
- Implement and manage hybrid identity solutions for seamless authentication and access between on-premises and Azure resources.
- Develop PowerShell scripts, automation workflows, and configuration management tools to streamline provisioning, deployment, and management tasks.
- Implement and maintain security measures across both environments, including firewall configurations, access controls, and encryption mechanisms, ensuring compliance with regulatory and industry standard requirements.
- Create and maintain documentation outlining the overall architecture, components, and integration points, facilitating knowledge sharing within the IT team and wider firm.
- Stay up to date with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in hybrid cloud, Azure services, and infrastructure management; identifying opportunities for innovation and new solutions to enhance the hybrid cloud environment.
Demonstrable experience in Cloud/On-Premises Infrastructure engineer/sysadmin roles:
- Azure services: VMs, storage, networking, Azure AD, Azure Security Centre, backup and recovery
- On-premises infrastructure: server administration, storage systems, network infrastructure, Hyper-V, high availability/clustering, Remote Desktop Services
- Networking principles, TCP/IP, WAN, LAN, IPVPN, firewalls, MPLS
- Applications/OS: Windows Server 2016-2022, Exchange (On-Premises and Online), MS365 DevOps Microsoft Intune
- Applications: SOS Connect/Practice Manager, Visualfiles, other legal LOB apps
- WatchGuard, Dell PowerEdge, Dell EqualLogic
- PowerShell scripting
- Experience with Python/.NET
