Our Ipswich based client is looking for a Customs Clearance Coordinator with a minimum of 2 years experience.

Responsibilities

  • Sign documents under Power of Attorney for clients.
  • Extract data from commercial invoices and packing lists for import/export declarations.
  • Liaise with importers and colleagues to gather information for import entries.
  • Assist clients with goods classification.
  • Enter details into Customs software (CDS, CNS, Destin8, NCTS, NES).
  • Allocate correct licences for imported goods.
  • Apply for duty refunds and tariff reclassification; assist with appeals.
  • Stay updated on import Customs regulations.
  • Inform customers about import restrictions, tariffs, insurance, and other Customs matters.
  • Prepare and handle import documentation (T-documents, EUR1’s, Certificates of Origin, CHED’s, COI’s).
  • Liaise with Port Health or Customs officials for document checks and goods quarantine.
  • Ensure high standards of customer service and timely completion of customs entries.
  • Maintain Customs compliance within the team.
  • Ensure data accuracy for consignments.

Essential

  • Excellent communication skills and customer service skills.
  • Ability to operate Microsoft packages and learn new systems easily.
  • Ability to operate software that is standard within the industry.
  • Numerical and analytical skills, paying attention to detail.
  • Self-motivating and be able to organise your work effectively and maintain records.
  • Excellent administration skills.
  • Recognised pass rate for GCSE in Maths and English.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment ensuring clearance processes are completed in a compliant and timely manner.

Desirable

  • Demonstrate experience within an operational Customs environment, managing International Logistics Customs documentation.
  • Demonstrate experience of managing HMRC obligations around Import & Export Customs.
  • Recognised academic qualifications within the Customs Industry would be advantageous.
  • Ideally fully conversant with Customs applications such as CHIEF, CDS, NCTS & NES.
  • Have a basic understanding of ETSF warehouse processes.
  • Educated to A-Level / Degree level desired but not essential.
  • Customer focused, both internally with colleagues and externally with clients.
  • Complex problem solving and the ability to engage critical thinking skills will be required as well as the ability to actively listen and interpret concisely.
