The Logistics and Production Controller is responsible and accountable for the receipting and shipping of vehicles and for creating and managing the production orders in line with the daily schedule to satisfy customer demand. The role will take accountability for all coordination of shipping and receipting of vehicles ensuring the internal and external information systems are kept fully up to date to provide accurate business reporting. The role will be accountable for managing the daily internal scheduling, reviewing and understanding any key constraints and creating the internal production orders within the MRP system (EPICOR) to trigger the correct production output in all departments.
Responsibilities
- Own the full process of receipting and despatching of vehicles at Pontypool.
- Receipt of the vehicle into the site ensuring it is inspected with no defects using various reporting and scanning systems. If there are defects you will notify and manage these through the customer portals and liaise with the customer on next steps.
- The collection of data on every step of the process, from receipt to delivery, and responsible to maintain databases and MRP to safely store information.
- Manage the outgoing inspection of vehicles. You will capture any required data and escalate any concerns to higher management.
- Responsible to ensure all MRP and other systems transactions, including customer and dealer portals are kept up to date.
- Regularly monitor vehicle availability against the top-level demand plan, if you see potential issues with vehicle delivery that can derail the top-level demand plan you will escalate to your manager.
- Contact OEM logistics teams to determine ETA's of the vehicles that have been built and are in UK compound.
- Manage the collection process of finished vehicles for all customers including arranging any transportation if required.
- Provide accurate information to decision makers through consistent analysis of the distribution process. This analysis is used to make strategic recommendations.
- Ensure the Production Schedule accurately reflects the constraints within paint, assembly and sub assembly areas.
- Receive inbound vehicles into the Production Schedule using the MRP system to create jobs.
- Schedule and create the internal jobs in MRP required for the daily production plan to be realised.
- Keeping track of production throughput to make sure the Production Schedule is adhered to.
- Liaise with Team leaders to manage the plan and job adherence for the internal sub assembly processes.
- Coordinate regularly with scheduler at other site, to ensure timely supply of Pontypool manufactured components in alignment with Dagenham's production schedule and delivery expectations.
- Ensure that all transactions are captured within the company MRP system.
- Ensure that all relevant procedures and processes are followed and adhered to in line with the Company's procedures and requirements.
- Ensuring 5S housekeeping standards are always maintained throughout the office environment, including clean desk policy.
- Record and communicate all shortage issues and flag to management.
Essential Skills
- Experience in a previous logistics or planning role
- Proficient use of computer systems including Microsoft Office applications
- Experience of using an ERP/MRP system
Hours and Salary
Monday - Thursday 7.30am - 4pm, Friday 7.30am - 1pm £36,000 per annum
