JSS is currently recruiting an IT Category Manager position for a public sector organisation in the West Midlands area. This is a critical role, taking ownership of the key technology spend area within the business.
The role:
- Lead the procurement process for IT related, highly complex, business critical and above threshold goods and services, within a publicly regulated environment, managing all risk, legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Implements procurement procedures in keeping with the organisation’s Procurement strategy and Procurement Policy and processes.
- Working to a governance framework and other procurement regulations as required.
- Supports development of appropriate IT procurement strategies that support value for money objectives e.g. supplier consolidation.
- Develops and maintains a plan of all IT procurement activity to meet business needs and advises on resource needs and options.
- Co-ordinates production of invitation to tender documents, instructions, evaluation scorecards and reports.
- Partners with key stakeholders across the business to understand key requirements/Customer profiles for their business units seeking products to best match these criteria.
- Facilitates development of the organisation’s relationship with existing and potential IT suppliers through strategic supplier relationship management.
- Works closely with legal and procurement teams to ensure adherence to contracted terms and conditions to maintain a high level of commerciality and relationship with key suppliers.
- Proactively engages key suppliers to help strengthen and improve their performance and provide transparency to help alleviate current or future service issues including ensuring non-conformances are managed and addressed in a timely manner.
- Identify and drive forward opportunities to develop and deliver cost-savings, business, and value-added opportunities within the organisation.
- Ensure IT suppliers continue to deliver best value by actively benchmarking against identified and approved comparators; and negotiating any contract changes.
Your profile:
- IT Category Management & Category Strategy Development.
- Demonstrable experience in running tenders and leading complex IT procurement competitions.
- Demonstrable experience in leading commercial negotiations.
- Supplier relationship management.
- Commercial risk management.
- Contract management.
- Project management.
- Experience of delivering tenders under UCR or PCR and awareness of more recent interpretations from Europe and the UK Courts.
- CIPS Qualified.
