A freight operations operator is responsible for coordinating the movement of goods and materials, ensuring they are transported efficiently and safely from one location to another. Their primary purpose is to oversee the logistics involved in shipping and receiving freight, including scheduling shipments, coordinating with carriers and suppliers, tracking shipments in transit, and resolving any issues that may arise during the transportation process. They play a crucial role in maintaining supply chain efficiency and meeting customer demands by ensuring that goods are delivered on time and in good condition. Additionally, freight operations operators may also be involved in managing documentation, such as bills of lading and customs paperwork, and optimizing transportation routes to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.
Duties Include:
- All modes of transport - air import/export, ocean import/export, road import/export.
- Customs - predominantly clear carnets but also permanent and temporary imports/exports. Knowledge of ASM Customs system would be preferable.
- Knowledge of CDS.
- Be able to cut export AWBs.
- Provide quotes to customers.
- Provide high customer service levels, chase for post flights and PODs, etc.
- Responsible for inputting cost accruals and invoicing jobs to clients.
- Weekend / out of hours work required with the job - will be paid for.
- Full, clean driving licence required.
- Be able to work with Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word programs.
- Involve some physical work.
