We are recruiting for an experienced chef supervisor in the Denstone area, in a beautiful rural setting, just on the Staffordshire border between Uttoxeter and Ashbourne. You will be joining a prestigious, independent school, catering for ages from 4 to 18 and assisting in the management of the kitchen team. This is a boarding school, and also hosts extra curricular and other community events so you will be involved in the planning and execution of breakfasts, lunch and dinners for the pupils, as well as the catering of hospitality and sporting events. The school's catering is all managed in house, allowing the successful candidate to bring their own expertise and creativity to the role.
Working hours: 34 works in term time, 9 weeks outside term time. (9 weeks holiday per year) 5 days out of 7, 40 hours per week.
What your day to day will look like:
- Working closely with the Head Chef and the Catering Manager to plan catering operations
- Shift running
- Preparing and cooking a high volume of meals to specification
- Assisting with the planning of menus and hospitality functions
- Supporting and coaching the wider kitchen team
- Assisting with food orders and controlling stock
- Ensuring the kitchen adheres to food hygiene standards
About you:
- Must have Enhanced DBS Child Workforce dated within 1 year OR on the update service
- Minimum Level 2 Food Hygiene Certification
- Food Allergen Awareness Certification
- Minimum 2 years experience working in either a kitchen management / sous chef position
- Experience working in a contract catering or school catering setting would be beneficial
- Friendly and approachable demeanor
