Overview
AKA Recruitment is actively seeking a skilled Electrical Controls Supervisor to join a leading global provider of industrial fit-out and automation solutions. This exciting role involves overseeing large-scale electrical installations across the UK and Europe, supporting cutting-edge industrial and manufacturing projects. You will be the key site-based representative for controls and electrical activities, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance. With a rotation of 10 days on site followed by 4 days at home, this is a fantastic opportunity for professionals who enjoy both hands-on involvement and travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Familiarisation: Gain a thorough understanding of the construction site, project layout, timelines, and customer specifications. Review relevant contracts and ensure alignment with installation scope and objectives.
- Regulatory Compliance & Testing: Ensure all electrical installations comply with current standards, including BS7671, EN(phone number removed), and EN60364. Oversee testing processes and ensure accurate documentation is completed for CE certification.
- Coordination & Collaboration: Liaise closely with the Project Manager of Controls (PrMC) to coordinate daily activities and project milestones. Work with other disciplines (Mechanical, Commissioning, Fire Protection, etc.) to ensure full system integration. Attend regular coordination meetings with all stakeholders and contractors.
- Quality Assurance & Monitoring: Conduct regular inspections to maintain quality and compliance standards. Maintain a live snag list and track resolution of open points. Perform pre-handover checks to ensure installations meet quality and readiness standards.
- Progress Tracking & Reporting: Monitor and report on site progress with weekly written updates, including percentage completion, identified issues, and improvement suggestions.
- Subcontractor & Cost Oversight: Review and verify subcontractor submissions, including hours worked and material costs. Approve additional work claims and manage attendance and compliance records. Ensure adherence to site health & safety requirements.
- Site Logistics & Access: Manage site access for subcontractor personnel, including inductions and customer-specific registration processes.
- Technical Coordination: Confirm installation locations for control panels, junction boxes, and consoles in collaboration with the client. Safely coordinate S1 panel power-on, including lockout procedures, safety signage, and documentation of test results. Identify and escalate issues with missing or faulty components.
- Support & Handover: Support system and performance testing, including Drive Commander, TÜV inspections, and final commissioning activities. Facilitate a structured handover process and maintain the latest “red pen” documentation (as-built drawings).
- Leadership & Continuous Improvement: Act as the first point of contact for Controls-related queries on site, escalating issues as needed. Mentor and support new team members. Contribute to ongoing improvements in implementation processes and project documentation. Represent and uphold the company’s core values through all site interactions.
