Teaching Assistant (SEND- Visual Impairment)

Job Title: 1:1 Teaching Assistant Reception (Visual Impairment & Medical Needs) Location: Small Heath, Birmingham Start Date: September 2025 Contract Type: Temporary Hours: Full-Time, 8:30am 3:30pm, Monday to Friday (Term Time Only) Salary: Negotiable (Dependent on Experience) Job Description: The successful candidate will support a child with a visual impairment, who also requires assistance with a feeding tube and some personal care. This role is suited to someone with a caring nature, strong SEN experienceparticularly with visual impairmentsand the confidence to handle medical and personal care needs in a nurturing, professional manner. Key Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 support for a visually impaired child in Reception Assist with orientation, mobility, and classroom access Deliver tailored learning support and resources Manage medical needs including feeding via tube (training may be provided) Assist with personal care tasks Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external specialists Essential Requirements: Experience supporting children with visual impairments Confidence with medical and personal care needs A calm, empathetic, and proactive approachTo be eligible for any job with Prospero Teaching, you must: · Hold Right to Work in the UK. · Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service, or be willing to process a new application. · Provide two professional child-related references that cover at least the last two years.To Apply: If you wish to hear more or have any queries, please call the Birmingham office on (phone number removed) .
