Mainstay Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced and motivated Shift Charge Engineer to join our client’s team at RAF Flyingdales. This is a critical role where your expertise will ensure the smooth and safe running of a key power station supporting defence operations.
As Shift Charge Engineer, you will report directly to the Power Station Manager and take full responsibility for the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of the power station plant and its associated systems. You will lead a dedicated shift team, responding swiftly to operational demands and any emergencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain the generating plant, boilers, district heating systems, and bulk fuel storage facilities.
- Take charge of all Power House Complex operations, ensuring a continuous power supply.
- Make critical decisions during emergencies to safeguard station operability.
- Liaise with clients and operational teams on power distribution, heating, and maintenance.
- Maintain accurate logs, shift handover notes, and incident reports for continuity and compliance.
- We want someone who thrives in high-responsibility environments and brings both technical expertise and strong leadership.
Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience in power station or industrial plant operations.
- Excellent leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.
- You must be a British citizen.
- You must be able to obtain and maintain SC (Security Check) Clearance.
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, pressure systems, and electrical systems.
- Ability to work under pressure and solve complex problems effectively.
- Willingness to work shifts as part of a continuous operational rota.
