We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading waste management and recycling company in the South of England, for an experienced Plant Manager. This is a newly created position, introduced to support their long-term growth plans and significant ongoing investment in plant and machinery. The role is based at their main operational hub in Eversley, Hampshire.
Our client is a well-established, family-run business operating across Hampshire, Berkshire, Wiltshire, Oxfordshire, and Surrey. With nine recycling facilities and a fleet of over 150 lorries, they process more than one million tonnes of waste and recycled materials every year. They continue to invest heavily in infrastructure, equipment, and people and offer a dynamic and supportive working environment.
The Plant Manager will oversee all workshop and plant-related operations. This includes managing teams of fitters, engineers and welders, improving service schedules, minimising downtime, and supporting overall plant utilisation and performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing workshop teams, including recruitment, supervision and performance
- Implementing and overseeing preventative maintenance and service schedules
- Supporting day-to-day plant operations, including site inspections and driver coordination
- Ensuring plant servicing, repairs and inspections are carried out in line with company standards
- Identifying opportunities for external plant and vehicle hire during periods of reduced internal demand
- Ensuring plant systems and records are kept up to date and accurately maintained
- Promoting high standards of health, safety and operational compliance across all plant-related activity
- Leading by example, clearly communicating expectations to the team and motivating staff to meet operational goals
- Advising on plant selection and contributing to procurement and investment planning
- Supporting the continuous improvement of plant operations as the business scales
About you:
We’re looking for someone with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a plant management role within plant hire, contracting, aggregates or recycling. A strong technical understanding of both fixed and mobile plant is essential, as well as good communication, leadership and organisational skills. You’ll be someone looking to make a long-term impact in a growing, forward-thinking business. A full UK driving licence is required.
