We are currently seeking a Business Unit Director (Blue chip clients) for a client of mine on a full-time basis. Due to our continued success in the delivery of this sector across Europe, UK & IRE, we are now one of the leading manufacturers in the delivery of modular package solutions, accompanied with the inclusion of modular plantrooms to house associated plant. As we continue to excel in this sector, we are looking for an individual who has experience working within a manufacturing environment and the ability to bring new and fresh ideas to sustain the company’s strong growth and future development plans.

Role Overview

The Business Unit Director will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the modular plantroom manufacturing division, with a primary focus on managing and expanding relationships with blue chip clients. This role is responsible for delivering world-class manufacturing and project execution, ensuring client satisfaction, driving business growth, and achieving financial objectives. The Director will lead cross-functional teams, oversee production and operational activities, and act as the main point of contact for key clients, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Business Growth: Develop and execute business strategies to grow the modular plantroom manufacturing division, aligned with overall company goals. Identify and pursue new business opportunities with blue chip clients, supporting bid preparation and providing commercial and technical input for proposals. Contribute to the formulation and delivery of division-wide strategy as a member of the leadership team.
  • Client Relationship Management: Act as the primary point of contact for blue chip clients, building and maintaining strong, trust-based relationships at senior levels. Ensure exceptional standards of client service, proactively addressing client needs and delivering solutions that exceed expectations. Monitor client satisfaction and adapt approaches to meet evolving portfolio needs.
  • Operational & Production Oversight: Oversee all aspects of modular plantroom production and project delivery, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards. Lead and motivate manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain teams to deliver world-class performance and meet production schedules. Implement continuous improvement initiatives, optimizing workflow, productivity, and cost efficiency across operations.
  • Financial & Commercial Management: Hold full P&L responsibility for the business unit, ensuring financial targets are met or exceeded. Oversee contract management and ensure commercial agreements support business objectives. Develop and manage budgets, analyse financial performance, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Leadership & Team Development: Build, lead, and mentor high-performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. Support the professional development of staff through coaching, mentoring, and succession planning.
  • Quality, Safety & Compliance: Ensure all manufacturing activities comply with industry standards, company policies, and client requirements. Promote a culture of safety, maintaining a safe work environment for all employees. Drive initiatives for energy efficiency, sustainability, and reducing carbon in the manufacturing operations.
