The Company Sharpak Aylesham is a manufacturer of thermoformed plastic packaging for use in the Fresh Produce and Food Service divisions. Established in 1968, the site has significantly grown in recent years and aims to be the first choice for rigid plastic packaging solutions through our reliability, efficiency, and innovation as a manufacturer of sustainable packaging on a local and global platform.
Role Purpose: The function of the role is to support the company through packing and checking product manufactured from the various machine groups, to ensure only products within an acceptable tolerance are packed, to a high quality and accuracy, ready for the customer.
Shifts Available: Nights X2 (10pm-6am)
Key Responsibilities:
- To check the quality of the product for defects as it is produced by the machines and pack the correct quantity in boxes.
- To inform Setters if there are defects in the products immediately to reduce any wastage and to ensure only quality products are produced and packed.
- To ensure that all documents required by the hygiene and quality management systems are completed in full, in relation to the work being carried out.
- To carry out a “Clean as you go” system to assist in good housekeeping and hygiene requirements in and around the machines.
- To cooperate and attempt to run multiple machines if the business needs require.
- To comply with all Health & Safety regulations and work within the Company’s safe working practices, including the wearing of correct PPE.
- Undertake such other duties that are deemed reasonable and commensurate with the role according to business needs.
Experience/Skills:
- Experience of working in a similar role within a high-volume manufacturing, FMCG or fresh produce environment.
- Good communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with others in a team.
- Team worker with a flexible approach to the role and others.
- A hands-on approach to the role with a keen eye for detail.
- Basic understanding of H&S procedures.
- Basic understanding of quality control.
- Positive working attitude when working alone or within a team.
