You will be required to work 21.5 hours per week, 52.14 weeks per year.

The main responsibilities of the role are:

  • To ensure the safe and efficient operation of the harbours and equipment in compliance with the appropriate legislation.

Suitable candidates will need to be able to work as part of a team and a certain level of basic Microsoft computing applications knowledge is required, particularly Outlook, Excel and Word. Training support will be available for computer use.

Experience in boat handling is essential, while knowledge of harbours and marina operations including the Port Marine Safety Code is desirable. Developmental opportunity to obtain a Harbour Masters Diploma and the potential for future promotion will also be provided.

Good communication will help you engage with members of the public, commercial operators, boat owners and other staff to keep the harbours activity, billing, infrastructure and defect reports accurate. Liaison with contractors will also be required. A driving licence is required for the use of council vehicles to conduct site visits.

The work is occasionally tide dependent with the requirement to work outside of normal office hours. Candidates will need to be prepared to work in poor weather. Full PPE will be provided.
