Our client, an award-winning and highly respected UK law firm, is currently looking to recruit a passionate and experienced Construction Solicitor (PQE 2+) to join their expanding Construction team. About the Role
The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of contentious and non-contentious construction matters, working directly alongside the Head of Construction to ensure efficient, expert service delivery. This role will primarily focus on contentious construction law, and therefore experience in dispute resolution under JCT and other construction contracts is essential. There will also be opportunities to engage in non-contentious work, with training provided if required.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage complex contentious construction matters, including adjudication, litigation, arbitration, expert determination, and mediation.
- Provide strategic and commercially sound advice to resolve disputes efficiently and cost-effectively.
- Support the Head of Construction in team organisation and overall service delivery.
- Mentor and support junior team members, sharing technical and procedural knowledge.
- Draft and negotiate construction contracts and ancillary documents (non-contentious work, if applicable).
- Collaborate with internal teams including real estate, corporate, and finance to deliver integrated client solutions.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through excellent service and communication.
- Identify legal risks and develop strategies for risk mitigation.
- Manage and prioritise a high-volume caseload in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of ongoing cases.
- Ensure adherence to SLA terms and internal deadlines.
Ideal Candidate
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with 2+ years PQE in construction law.
- Strong experience in contentious construction work; non-contentious experience is desirable but not essential.
- Commercially minded with strong tactical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organisational ability.
- Strong communicator with the ability to manage client expectations and relationships.
- A collaborative team player with a proactive and positive attitude.
