Position: Mechanical Design EngineerLocation: SandySalary: £45 – 55K (DOE)Hours: Monday – Thursday 08:00 – 17:00, Friday 08:00 – 13:00; Office based with opportunities for flexibility Our well established client based in Sandy are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their expanding team, on a Permanent basis.   This is an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join an industry-leading company in a varied role. From developing initial mechanical designs and generating technical documents to providing technical support during machine construction, you will be responsible for the design of machinery from initial conception through to final product development. Main Responsibilities as a Mechanical Design Engineer:

• Develop initial mechanical designs and sales layout drawings
• Utilising SolidWorks and AutoCAD
• Mechanical design of machinery adhering to customer and/or user specifications
• Creation of 2D detail drawings, including assembly, part, fabrication and pneumatic schematics
• Ensure accurate and optimal mechanical designs by liaising with other design teams
• Creation of machine manuals and technical documents, for use during manufacturing and installation
• Identify opportunities for product improvements and aid implementation
• Provide technical support to the shop-floor teams during machine construction
• Liaise with relevant departments to resolve build and design issues when necessary
• Travel to customers in the UK/overseas for site surveys and issue resolution

 Skills and Experience required as a Mechanical Design Engineer:

• A recognised qualification in Mechanical Engineering
• Experience using a 3D mechanical design package, ideally SolidWorks
• Possess a keen eye for detail/precision, with the ability to fault find machines
• Proven experience in mechanical design of machinery
• Experience of mechanically building machinery, commissioning production lines and completing validation documentation is desirable
• Ability to work both independently using own initiative and within a team
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
