Mechanic Location: Weston-Super-Mare, BS23 3DN Salary: 15.00 – 21.00 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications) Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent Working Hours: Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend availability as required About the Company Streamline Search is working in partnership with a well-established, award-winning passenger transport company that provides coach holidays, home-to-school transport, and community services. Due to continued investment in their fleet and operations, our client is now seeking a skilled and dependable PSV Mechanic to join their experienced maintenance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified mechanic from a PSV, HGV, or broader transport background to work in a supportive environment with a strong focus on safety, reliability, and career development. Key Responsibilities Carry out scheduled inspections, servicing, and repairs on a fleet of coaches, minibuses, and other passenger vehicles. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults and perform the necessary repairs efficiently. Conduct MOT preparations and inspections to ensure vehicles meet DVSA standards. Complete all documentation accurately and maintain service records to a high standard. Ensure compliance with all health and safety procedures and transport regulations. Respond to vehicle breakdowns and carry out roadside repairs when required. Work collaboratively with the engineering and transport teams to maintain vehicle availability and reliability. Requirements Previous experience working on PSV (Passenger Service Vehicles), HGV, or in the wider commercial vehicle/transport sector. Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent). Time-served mechanics without formal qualifications will also be considered based on experience. Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills. Good understanding of DVSA safety standards and vehicle compliance requirements. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a busy workshop environment. A full UK driving licence is required. A PSV licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
