IGA Talent Solutions are partnered with one of the largest providers of professional trustee services for pension schemes across the UK. The firm provides trustees, chair of trustees and sole trustee appointments, for a wide range of schemes - DB, DC, master trust and LGPS. As a result, deep experience in the UK defined benefit (or final salary) pension scheme industry is a must for this role.
As the company continues to grow, it's looking to develop its business development function and has a clear need for a senior, internally-orientated, business development professional to join the team. We're looking for someone with a background in bids & pursuits and/or internal sales management, to 'conduct the orchestra' and enable our client to maximise their success at competitive tender.
The role covers:
- Building and managing relationships with referral partners - conducting scoping calls with third parties and gaining feedback on suitability.
- Overseeing the RFP process - ensuring the more junior BD team members and lead pitchers contribute in the most effective way, working to deadlines and providing senior level input to improve conversion rates.
- Analysing and assessing win conditions and forming a strategy to maximise the chance of success.
- Pitch coaching with the trustee directors who are put forward for the opportunity, helping to form the narrative and deciding on key points to communicate.
- Working with design and marketing partners to produce business development materials including case studies, thought pieces, pitch decks etc.
- Project managing award submissions, industry accreditations and identifying opportunities to increase brand awareness in trade press/other relevant areas.
- Building market knowledge and understanding of competitor landscape, including relative strengths and weaknesses. Feeding your knowledge into the BD process and wider business to both improve success and continue to improve the offering.
Although the firm has size & scale, with a very impressive client list that includes some of the largest and best known companies in the UK, the business development is small, nimble and has a direct line into the Managing Director of the overall pensions business. There is a large opportunity to drive change and bring your own ideas and experience to bear in this position. We're looking for people excited by the opportunity to play a key role in the design, development and delivery of the business development process.
Qualifications & Experience Required
- 6+ years' of industry-related business development experience, working with pension schemes.
- Deep understanding of the RFP/bid process and how to run a successful pursuit.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to deal with a wider manner of stakeholders, internal & external.
- Strong knowledge of successful marketing strategies.
- Focused and goal-oriented with a creativity and entrepreneurial flair.
