Castlefield Recruitment are working with a regional housing association who are looking to recruit a Building Safety Officer on a permanent basis. This is an agile working position with a mixture of office, site and home working.
The Role - Building Safety Officer - Housing Association:
- The Building Safety Officer will support the Building Safety Manager in ensuring that buildings are compliant with relevant UK building safety regulations.
- The role will assist in routine safety checks, record-keeping, and coordination of safety-related activities, contributing to the overall safety and wellbeing of residents and building users.
- Support the Building Safety Manager in monitoring building safety compliance in line with the Building Safety Act 2022 and Fire Safety Order.
- Conduct site inspections and report any safety concerns or defects.
- Assist with updating and maintaining accurate building safety records and documentation (Golden Thread information).
- Instruct and manage contractors to ensure timely servicing of the building.
- Support the coordination of safety-related maintenance, inspections, and remedial works.
- Help with the preparation of safety reports, audits, and risk assessments.
- Liaise with residents and contractors regarding safety access and minor issues.
The Person - Building Safety Officer - Housing Association:
- Some experience in building safety, facilities management, fire safety, or health & safety within a residential environment.
- Experience of coordinating programmes of work and monitoring contractors for the delivery of such works.
- Basic understanding of building safety legislation and fire safety principles.
- Relevant qualification (or working towards) such as Level 2 Compliance, IOSH, NEBOSH, Fire Safety qualification, or equivalent.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to follow procedures, maintain records, and report issues effectively.
- Competent IT skills for record-keeping and reporting purposes.
