About the Role

As a Nurture Teacher, you will lead a small group of students who benefit from a more tailored and supportive approach to education. You will design and deliver engaging lessons that focus on both academic progress and emotional development. You will help students reintegrate into mainstream classes when they are ready.

Key Responsibilities of a Nurture Teacher

  • Plan and deliver differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of students in the nurture group.
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and structured environment that promotes emotional well-being and academic growth.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SEN staff, and external professionals to support each student's development.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adapting strategies as needed to ensure continued improvement.
  • Promote positive behaviour and social skills through consistent routines and clear expectations.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and carers to build strong home-school partnerships.

Requirements of a Nurture Teacher

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience working with students in a nurture setting.
  • A nurturing, patient, and empathetic approach to teaching.
  • Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
