V7 are looking for an experienced Environmental Officer on behalf of our close client, operating in the Manufacturing Industry. The business has a large portfolio of work and this is the opportunity to join a growing business with long-term development opportunities. The role is full time, permanent and on offer is a competitive salary with 5 weeks annual leave and unique company benefits.
Key duties:
- Environmental Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor and evaluate environmental performance (emissions, and wastewater discharge compliance).
- Prepare and submit required environmental reports, permits, and documentation to regulatory authorities, internal stakeholders and sustainability partners on time.
- Regulatory Compliance
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of environmental legislation and advise management and stakeholders on regulatory changes and implications.
- Ensure that the appropriate measures are put in place to mitigate the risk of both existing and new regulatory and other requirements.
- Audits & Inspections
- Conduct regular site inspections and internal audits to identify risks, non-compliance, and improvement opportunities.
- Coordinate and support external inspections or audits by regulatory or certification bodies to ensure voluntarily adopted standards (i.e. ISO45001, 14001, and 9001) are retained.
- Waste & Resource Management
- Oversee proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
- Promote resource efficiency, waste reduction, and recycling initiatives throughout the business.
- Incident Management
- Investigate environmental incidents or non-conformances, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain records of spills, emissions, and other environmental incidents, ensuring appropriate follow-up and reporting.
- Training & Awareness
- Develop and deliver environmental training programs for staff to raise awareness and ensure compliance as instructed.
- Foster a workplace culture that values environmental responsibility and sustainability.
- Documentation & Record-Keeping
- Maintain comprehensive records of compliance activities, permits, training, and environmental performance metrics.
