Zoocha is seeking a Lead UX Consultant within our growing cross-functional Experience Team. This is a new role within the agency, reporting directly to the Creative Director.

Your remit

As a senior member of our multidisciplinary Experience team, you will help lead Zoocha’s strategic experience design work and UX consultancy offering. You’ll play a key role in helping discover, define and design experiences, ensuring our output is grounded in research, data and insights, and delivers ongoing value to our clients and their audiences.

As well as working alongside other UX practitioners, you’ll also work very closely with our creative and UI design team, feeding into the strategy and design of a wide range of audience-centred digital products, services and experiences, from websites to native mobile apps and global design systems.

Expectations

This is a hybrid working role, with the flexibility to work remotely some of the time, but with an expectation that you’ll be based at our Hertford office at least one day per week. Some travel to clients is also expected.

As a senior practitioner within the business, your work will be split between non-billable management, new business and internal projects, and billable work (including oversight) on client projects.

Mandatory requirements:

  • Based in the UK, ideally within regular commuting distance of our Hertford office.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is essential.
  • You’ll need to provide a link to a portfolio; unfortunately, applications without one won’t be considered.
  • You must have a valid visa or work permit.

Must-have skills and experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ agency experience, you’ll currently be in a senior UX design/ consultancy role and looking for your next step up.
  • Exceptional UX design craft paired with a strategic, consultative mindset.
  • Passionate about all things UX, and keen to share that passion in order to inspire the team - mentoring, coaching and leading them to reach their full potential.
  • Deep practical experience of planning, conducting, analysing and presenting back of quantitative and qualitative research studies.
  • Solid proficiency of analysing and interpreting data (e.g. GA4, Hotjar) and experience of conversion rate optimisation approaches and tools.
  • Significant experience creating UX/ CX deliverables such as wireframes, prototypes, journey/ experience maps, user flows, personas, information architecture etc.
  • Experienced creating user stories and product backlogs.
  • The ability to turn insights into strategic recommendations, and help join the dots for clients through compelling narratives and storytelling.
  • Strong experience of designing and working with complex, global design systems, with a deep proficiency in Figma prototyping and testing.
  • Good understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines best practices.
  • Experience of designing and facilitating workshops.
  • Solid experience of designing native mobile apps (iOS and Android) and with a strong understanding of native mobile app design best practices.
  • Good commercial awareness, helping ensure work is delivered on time within budget.
  • A good understanding of creative and emerging technologies and how they can be applied to innovative and immersive experiences.
  • An exceptional communicator with the ability to explain complex concepts in plain English to people from other disciplines and backgrounds.

Proven evidence/experience of:

  • Collaboration and teamwork, especially across multi-disciplinary, diverse teams.
  • Being open to a range of opinions and able to see problems or situations from a variety of perspectives.
  • Curious, open and with an eagerness to grow and learn from those around you, and having a clear understanding of your strengths and weaknesses.
  • Being comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty.

Nice-to-have experience:

  • Ideally experience of working within GDS guidelines with a good knowledge of Government Digital Service standards and inclusive, accessible design for public sector clients.
  • Ideally some experience of UX content design and content testing.
  • Experience of working with Flutter for cross-platform app design.
  • Line management experience including personal development planning, performance management, coaching and mentoring.
