My client is seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant with a strong background in the Construction industry to join their Finance team. Experience in CIS reporting is favourable. Reporting to the Head of Finance, the successful candidate will play a vital role in the smooth operations of subcontractor management, purchase ledger activities as well as sales ledger and credit control.
Responsibilities:
- Subcontractor Management
- Set up new subcontractors ensuring details are complete and correct CIS verification
- Ensure that PQQs and insurances are correct and approved by the SHEQ Director
- Inputting subcontractor invoices and liaising with Project Team to ensure payment authorisations are received and any discrepancies are resolved
- Liaise with subcontractors regarding payments and ensuring accurate subcontractor records at all times
- Maintain subcontractor retention records
- Prepare payment runs
- Monthly CIS Return completion and submission
- Purchase Ledger
- Process supplier invoices matching to purchase orders
- Ensure authorisations have been received from Project Team prior to payment and resolve any queries
- Prepare payment runs and maintain accurate supplier records
- Reconcile supplier statements
- Ensure VAT invoices are received for pro-forma payments
- Sales Ledger
- Set up new projects
- Create and maintain client records
- Raise sale invoices to clients
- Credit control
- Monitor sales retentions and relevant due dates
- Perform credit checks on new clients
- General Accounting Support
- Assisting with month-end procedures
- Posting credit card and petty cash journals
- Filing and scanning
- Any other administrative tasks relating to the role including answering incoming Reception calls when required.
Skills:
- Proven experience as an Accounts Assistant within the Construction industry
- Proficient in accounting software (eVision is preferred)
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task and be proactive
- Strong organisational skills and time management
- A relevant finance qualification is preferred
Package:
- Salary: £32-35k per annum
- 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays)
- Death in service 4 x salary
