GSL Education is seeking motivated and reliable Secondary Teaching Assistants to join supportive secondary schools across Barnsley. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in the academic and personal development of pupils at Key Stages 3 and 4.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one or small group support to help students stay engaged and meet their learning goals.
- Assist teachers in delivering dynamic and inclusive lessons.
- Support pupils with special educational needs (SEN), behavioural difficulties, or additional learning needs.
- Help foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Encourage student confidence, independence, and active participation in lessons.
- Supervise students during non-teaching times such as breaktimes and school activities.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with secondary-aged pupils in an educational or youth setting.
- A strong understanding of SEN, Autism, ADHD, and behaviour management approaches is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- A calm, adaptable, and proactive attitude to supporting learning.
- Confidence working both independently and as part of a team.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).
