Job Title: Housing Needs Officer – Housing Demand Team
Location: Slough Borough Council
Rate of Pay: 25 Umbrella P/H
Hours: 37 hours per week
We are currently working with Slough Borough Council, who are looking for a Housing Needs Officer to join their Housing Demand Team. In this role, a successful candidate will provide expert housing advice, support homeless prevention, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation to deliver high quality, tailored housing solutions to vulnerable individuals and families.
Main Duties:
- Provide housing advice, including legal rights, options, and prevention of homelessness.
- Assess housing applications, conduct home visits, and work proactively to prevent homelessness.
- Apply housing, homelessness, immigration, and welfare benefits legislation to advise clients.
- Ensure service delivery meets statutory and performance targets.
- Work with internal teams (e.g., Housing Needs, Social Lettings) and external agencies (e.g., Police, Mental Health, Probation) to support clients.
- Lead specific projects or partnerships as directed.
- Assist clients with personal housing plans and provide clear, accurate housing information.
- Manage complex and vulnerable cases with professionalism and empathy.
- Maintain accurate, confidential records and reports, complying with legal and internal requirements.
The Candidate Will Have:
- Knowledge of safeguarding, health/social care frameworks, and immigration law.
- Experience in housing advice, homelessness, or tenancy relations.
- Proven ability to work with vulnerable clients and maintain confidentiality.
- Understanding of tenancy agreements, the private rented sector, and court procedures.
- Proficiency in IT Systems.
