THE ROLE
As the VP, Scripted Acquisitions you will play a pivotal role sourcing high-quality, commercially viable scripted content from global producers to drive distribution.
- Drive the identification and evaluation of scripted content with strong international appeal.
- Build and manage key relationships with producers globally, acting as a trusted commercial partner and strategic advisor.
- Lead negotiations for selected scripted acquisitions while supporting creative ambition.
- Develop and present compelling, data-led investment cases for senior leadership.
- Create and refine innovative financing strategies to support premium content and mitigate risk.
- Monitor global trends and market dynamics to inform content strategy and acquisition decisions.
- Serve as the commercial lead on a slate of projects providing hands-on guidance to producers throughout development, packaging and delivery.
- Represent the team at major industry events.
- Deputise for the SVP as needed, maintaining continuity in stakeholder engagement and team leadership.
- Mentor junior team members, sharing best practices and overseeing.
- Ensure smooth operational execution by tracking acquisitions, coordinating pitches and managing timelines with internal systems and delivery teams.
THE PERSON
You should have significant experience in the international TV industry, particularly within scripted content, with an understanding of global markets, rights and commercial trends. Having a track record of shaping successful projects with producers is key. Strong commercial and financial acumen is essential. You should be confident influencing senior stakeholders, skilled in negotiation and able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. It is beneficial to be comfortable working with data, especially around acquisitions and forecasting.
