A prestigious US law firm is looking for a Compliance Specialist to join their London-based team.
The Compliance Specialist role will focus primarily on anti-money laundering (AML) compliance within the firm’s broader compliance framework.
The ideal candidate will have prior AML experience gained in an international law firm.
Key Responsibilities for the Compliance Specialist role:
- Enforcing compliance with the firm’s AML PCPs aligned with the Money Laundering Regulations.
- Staying informed of emerging trends in AML compliance, including sanctions regimes.
- Conducting comprehensive due diligence checks, including PEP and sanctions screening using online tools and third-party databases.
- Assisting with audits (both internal and external) and supporting implementation of remedial action plans.
- Gathering and analysing source of wealth and source of funds documentation.
- Carrying out client and matter risk assessments and preparing formal documentation.
- Monitoring client risk status and reporting changes where appropriate.
- Participating in Compliance Committee meetings and collaborating with stakeholders across regions.
- Periodically reviewing and updating internal policies to reflect legislative and regulatory developments.
- Acting as a key contact for AML-related queries and escalation points.
- Working closely with the Finance Team on client fund checks and payment monitoring.
- Responding to internal inquiries and providing guidance on AML legislation and firm PCPs.
- Assisting with invoice processing and supporting ad hoc compliance projects.
Skills and Experience:
- AML compliance experience within an international law firm environment.
- Deep understanding of the UK AML regulatory framework.
- Strong working knowledge of legal and commercial structures.
- Familiarity with systems such as Omnitrack, VinciWorks, or Compliance Catalyst (desirable)
