We are looking to fill the role of a Multi Trade Operative within a housing environment. Our client is ambitious and has a huge 5 year plan which we are seeking an MTO to assist with. Their main aim is to create a sustainable future for social housing, building new homes and investing in existing ones, creating vibrant, thriving communities.
The Role:
- To deliver an efficient, compliant, and consistently high standard of repairs service, ensuring that customer satisfaction is at the heart of every job you complete.
- Fault fixing, maintenance and repair to properties.
- Completing a wide variety of carpentry, plumbing and other trade tasks at multiskilled level and in accordance with the Skills Awards L2/3 NVQ Diploma in Maintenance Operations or equivalent.
- Tasks include plumbing, carpentry and masonry both internally and externally.
- To liaise with other colleagues, as appropriate, to ensure all relevant individuals are aware of progress and action taken.
- Assess and carry out works needed for tenants.
- Always ensuring that all works comply with relevant health and safety legislation, policies and procedures in the performance of the duties of the post, including understanding of risk assessments and method statements which will include appropriate use of equipment, PPE, and safe working practice.
- Delivering works on time and first time wherever possible.
- To use and apply a ‘Schedule of Rates’ for job costing repairs and ensuring repair orders are varied to correct value.
- To be available to cover out of hours emergency call out in accordance with the rota.
- Complete and maintain paperwork and records accurately.
- Using a laptop/smart phone to record repairs and organise workload.
- Procure job related materials through main partnering suppliers.
- Maintain a comprehensive van stock of materials, completing works in the most cost-effective manner.
- Maintain the works vehicle in good condition, keep it clean and carry out regular vehicle safety checks reporting any defects to the Fleet Manager & support team.
- To assist all other trades as and when required ensuring that residents receive the best possible quality service.
- To operate multi-task working where required and where skilled/trained to do so.
- To undergo any training needed to widen your skill level if required.
The Candidate needs to have:
- Experience in a similar role or trade background, preferably with experience of Carpentry, Plumbing, Masonry/Plastering and General Maintenance.
- Competent approach to complete a wide variety of carpentry, plumbing and other trade tasks at multiskilled level.
- Demonstrable experience with a variety of carpentry and plumbing works across a variety of properties.
- Minimum NVQ level 2, or time served experience in either carpentry, masonry and/or plumbing with proven competency in non-core trades.
- Experience of working as part of a trade team delivering to tight timescales.
- Full Driving licence (clean).
- Ability to undertake physically demanding work.
SUMMARY: This is a Temp to Perm, full time role, working a 40 hour week over 5 days. The role requires a satisfactory Basic DBS check.
