The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has become available with a sector-leading client for an experienced Civil/Structural Engineer to become responsible for driving the design delivery processes throughout the project lifecycle.
Your duties and responsibilities will be:
- Prepare and/or review designs, analyses, reports, drawings, specifications, and related documentation for both Nuclear and Non-Nuclear plant, facility, and equipment projects, either on company-licensed, authorised, and operational sites or under external contracts.
- Contribute to resolving technical issues by developing solutions for design deficiencies or supporting the creation of new designs.
- Assist in the assessment and approval of new designs, construction methodologies, and temporary works submitted to the Technical Authority.
- Undertake design work packages as assigned by the Lead Civil Engineer.
- Provide supervision and on-the-job mentoring to junior staff members.
- Effectively apply lessons learned to enhance theoretical and practical engineering knowledge, maintaining a personal development record to demonstrate acquired competencies.
- Support the development, construction, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of facilities, ensuring compliance with design intent, DNSP requirements for nuclear works, and all applicable local and national regulations and legislation.
- Assist with on-site inspections of assets related to their construction, maintenance, and modification.
- Stay up to date with procedures relevant to Facilities Engineering.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
- The role requires the ability to demonstrate appropriate expertise and skills in managing the technical aspects of complex design development throughout the entire design lifecycle.
- Offer guidance to sub-contracted design firms to support their design development efforts.
- A strong grasp of engineering design principles and safety standards relevant to the discipline, role, and project is essential.
- Proven experience in developing project specifications, planning, managing projects, and overseeing budgets.
- Thorough understanding of company and departmental policies related to Design, Health & Safety, and Quality, with the capability to manage projects in compliance with these standards.
- Proficient in using applicable engineering office software tools.
- Previous experience providing design support for the construction, operation, maintenance, or refurbishment of conventional and/or nuclear submarines and associated facilities.
