Our client, Yamazaki Mazak is a leading global manufacturing company based in Worcester. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a market leading Machine Tool manufacturer who have been at the forefront of the industry for many years. Due to increased demand within the department, our client now has a requirement for a Production Estimator. 365 Resourcing are the preferred supplier working on behalf of Mazak. Reporting to the Production Director and as a part of the Inter Company Sales Team, the Production Estimator is responsible for the creation and maintenance of all Machine option quotations. This encompasses Machine Standard Options, Machine Special Options and Retrofit Option Quotations. This role will collate all the necessary information required to present accurate, competitive and timely quotations throughout the European sales organisation.
Reporting to the Production Director, the responsibilities are as follows:
- Take ownership for the creation & maintenance of all machine option quotations.
- Compile accurate, competitive, timely & profitable quotations through collaboration with key Production functions (Engineering, Supply Chain etc.).
- Project manage each quotation and ensure timely response from other functions within the Production division.
- Support the development, implementation, and optimisation of market-driven costings to increase option conversion rates.
- Competently compile estimates for Machining costs, fabrication, engineering design, option materials and assembly, and monitor delivery of estimates against actual for commercial improvement.
- Communicate transparently with our European Sales organisations to ensure joint understanding of option quotations and improve vital relationships.
- Ensuring the accurate collection of KPI information leading to the targeted improvement of option revenue, profitability & conversion rate performance through analysis, communication and action.
- Responsible for improving the Option quotation process and system to deliver the optimal value to both our customers and the Production Division.
- Support 6 monthly standard costing exercise with accurate and concise commercial understanding.
Person Specification:
Essential Criteria:
- Previous experience in Estimation and Quotation processes within a similar engineering field.
- A core understanding of the commercial impact of estimation & measures required to demonstrate a positive performance.
- A strong/qualified technical and engineering awareness to understand the engineering and operational complexities of the products involved and manufacturing process.
- A strong/qualified commercial and financial awareness.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with multi-national stakeholders and overall, influence decision-making personnel.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills in order to make measured judgments under pressure.
- Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to customer satisfaction.
- Able to communicate and travel in support of the role.
Desirable Criteria:
- Have technical experience from a machine tool environment.
- Be able to speak English at a business and technical level and have use of another core European languages.
- Proven experience in implementing business systems particularly relating to estimation & quotations.
- An academic level of degree level and above in a suitable or relating subject(s). Where possible, candidates should have experience from a relating or similar industry.
- A direct awareness of manufacturing is required along with project management tools and methodologies.
