Elvet Recruitment have been appointed to recruit an Assistant Buyer for a leading residential contractor to manage the procurement of a number of new build housing developments. This position would also suit someone who has relevant product knowledge, perhaps working at a builders/materials merchant. Our client is a well regarded and established contractor who operate with a number of disciplines including commercial and residential.
Main duties will include:
- Assist with the procurement of all directly purchased materials and hired plant to deliver new homes in accordance with the regional forecast, including taking off and scheduling materials from working drawings where required.
- Placing orders for bulk materials and dealing with site generated requisitions.
- Liaising with suppliers to ensure best value is achieved.
- Managing individual workload on a daily/weekly basis.
- Assist with preparing and updating materials budgets for individual developments.
- Assist with the production of various KPI reports such as site damage, plant use and site waste.
To be considered, applicants must:
- Previously held Buying role with knowledge of take offs, schedules and budgets required.
- Ideally, this will be with a house builder or large construction organisation; however, we welcome applications from all sectors of the construction industry.
