Role Overview

I am seeking a proactive Learning and Development Manager to shape and lead our talent development strategy. This role will focus on building internal capabilities, improving employee engagement and retention, and establishing a structured approach to learning across the organisation. The successful candidate will oversee training initiatives, manage L&D budgets, and lead the rollout of our internal learning academy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learning Strategy Development: Design and implement learning strategies aligned with business goals to strengthen organisational capability and support employee retention.
  • Training Program Creation: Develop a range of learning initiatives, including e-learning, workshops, and structured pathways, to support career progression and skill development.
  • Performance Evaluation: Measure training impact and effectiveness through feedback, performance metrics, and continuous improvement.
  • Budget & Vendor Oversight: Manage L&D budgets and liaise with third-party training providers to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions.
  • Skills Matrix & Capability Mapping: Build and maintain a company-wide skills inventory to identify development needs and inform strategic planning.
  • Learning Academy Leadership: Lead the setup and day-to-day operation of the internal training academy, ensuring quality, accreditation, and alignment with business needs.
  • Succession Planning: Work cross-functionally to implement succession plans and create clear development pathways across the organisation.
  • Apprenticeship Program Management: Design and oversee a group-wide apprenticeship programme in partnership with external providers.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Demonstrated success in leading L&D initiatives, ideally within a technology or fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
  • Expertise in instructional design, digital learning, and learning impact assessment.
  • Strong project management skills with experience overseeing budgets and supplier relationships.
  • Practical knowledge of setting up internal academies or structured learning frameworks.
  • Experience in implementing succession planning and talent development strategies.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Familiarity with apprenticeships and early-career development programs is a plus.
