We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to oversee the mechanical installation on a high-profile student accommodation development based in Hornchurch. This is a freelance, site-based role with an immediate start, working for a well-established building services contractor known for delivering quality across residential, commercial, and education sectors.
The Role:
- Managing the mechanical package on a large-scale new-build student accommodation site
- Coordinating subcontractors and ensuring quality and programme delivery
- Monitoring progress, reporting on milestones, and addressing on-site issues promptly
- Overseeing installations including HVAC, hot/cold water systems, and plant room coordination
- Ensuring compliance with health & safety standards and project specifications
- Liaising with the main contractor, consultants, and in-house teams to ensure seamless execution
- Managing procurement, RAMS, technical submittals, and commissioning schedules
Requirements:
- Proven experience managing mechanical packages on residential or student accommodation builds
- Strong understanding of building services installation and sequencing
- Excellent communication and site coordination skills
- SMSTS / SSSTS and valid CSCS card
- Strong documentation and reporting capability
- Ability to manage subcontractors and drive performance on site
