Contract Type: 3-6 Month Contract

Day Rate: £400-410 a day Outside IR35

The Opportunity: This is a unique opportunity to join a high-impact transformation programme. Over the next five years, this major digital initiative is reshaping how this Defence division operates by developing and supporting a secure, cutting-edge data platform. As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will be joining a specialist engineering team for a 3-6 month engagement to provide critical cover during a key period. You will help deliver and maintain secure infrastructure while ensuring smooth onboarding of tenants to the platform. The work is meaningful, high-priority, and deeply embedded within defence and national security environments.

The Role: As a core member of the NDH Infrastructure team, you will:

  • Contribute to the testing, maintenance, and development of platform infrastructure in accordance with project strategy
  • Provide technical leadership in the areas of MECM (formerly SCCM), Windows Server infrastructure, patching, and endpoint protection
  • Lead the upgrade of Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager and ensure continuity of assurance and operational support
  • Work closely with internal security colleagues and contribute to the broader accreditation and assurance work
  • Liaise with vendors and centralised services as the technical lead or technical design authority for your areas of responsibility
  • Identify and implement service improvements within a fast-paced, evolving technical environment
  • Support the integration of infrastructure with DevOps teams—PowerShell scripting or automation experience would be a bonus

You Will Need:

  • Active SC clearance minimum
  • Experience operating in secure, critical environments—ideally within Defence or Government
  • Strong understanding of MOD accreditation processes and security frameworks
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in a dynamic environment
  • Working knowledge of ITIL service management processes
  • Expertise with:
  • Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM)
  • WSUS and patch management
  • DOBUS (Defence Out of Band Update Service)
  • Windows Active Directory, Group Policies, and Windows Server
  • Windows Defender AV signature updates
  • Windows security lockdowns and CIS-CAT scoring
