A forward-thinking and inclusive secondary school in Islington is seeking a Head of Business & Economics to lead a vibrant and high-achieving department from September 2025. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced educator to take on a key leadership role and shape the future of Business and Economics education at the school.

As Head of Business & Economics, you will be responsible for curriculum leadership, staff development, and ensuring excellent outcomes for students across KS4 and KS5.

The role:

  • Lead the strategic direction and day-to-day management of the Business & Economics department
  • Deliver engaging and effective lessons in Business Studies at KS4 and Economics at KS5
  • Prepare students thoroughly for GCSE and A-Level exams
  • Manage and support a team of subject specialists
  • Drive standards in teaching, learning, and pupil progress
  • Contribute to whole-school initiatives as a middle leader

Essential for the Head of Business & Economics role:

  • Experience teaching Economics at KS5
  • Experience teaching Business Studies at KS4
  • Track record of preparing students for GCSE and A-Level success
  • Proven team leadership or management experience

Desirable for the Head of Business & Economics role:

  • Prior experience in a middle leadership capacity
  • Experience teaching Level 3 BTEC Business
  • Involvement in curriculum development or teaching and learning initiatives
  • Contribution to extracurricular activities (e.g., enterprise clubs, competitions)
