About the Role

We seek an Associate Financial Accountant to join our global Finance team. This role involves maintaining transparency and order in the company’s finances. It is ideal for someone in the early stages of their career, part qualified in accounting, looking to gain experience in a commodity trading environment. The position offers a hybrid working pattern, with at least three days on-site at our London office in Berkeley Square, Mayfair. It is a full-time, permanent role with responsibilities including:

  • Supporting Legal Entity Controllers with transactions across UK, Japan, and France, gaining exposure to UK GAAP, IFRS, US GAAP, French GAAP, and Japanese GAAP.
  • Preparing weekly and monthly cash reconciliations for general and subsidiary bank accounts.
  • Posting cash and accounts payable transactions, assisting with expense reviews.
  • Participating in month-end close activities, including balance sheet reconciliation and journal preparation.
  • Updating financial data in databases for accuracy and availability.
  • Assisting with external audits.
  • Contributing to the development of finance systems and procedures.
  • In time, we also expect you to develop knowledge in margin and collateral posting, cashflow reporting, and operational finance within merchant trading, alongside training in renewables, power, and gas markets.

About You

You will be at an early stage of your accounting career with relevant experience and qualifications, eager to gain international experience. Requirements include:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, finance, or related fields, or equivalent experience.
  • Examinations towards qualifications such as CIMA, ACCA, or ACA.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, data validation, visualization).
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and analytical ability.
  • A team-oriented, proactive attitude, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluent English communication skills.
