BloombergNEF (BNEF) is seeking a versatile and highly motivated individual to join our European gas analysis team for a 6-month contract. To succeed in this role, you should have a genuine passion for data and quantitative methods, along with an appreciation for the importance of data. Your focus will be on sourcing, storing, modeling, and visualizing data to high standards and helping build client-facing tools. Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills, with an interest in critically analyzing complex subjects, are essential. Candidates with academic or career expertise in gas markets or similar are especially welcome.

You will be based in our London office, part of the European natural gas analyst team at BloombergNEF, a leading independent provider of energy analysis, data, and research. Our experts across six continents provide insights to major utilities, oil & gas companies, manufacturers, financial institutions, and governments.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate on tools and data structuring for country-level gas supply/demand analysis.
- Expand BNEF\’s Europe coverage and integrate it into modeling workflows.
- Handle ad hoc data projects to meet client needs.
- Provide quantitative insights and expertise for team research.
- Assist with process mapping and ongoing improvements.
Minimum Requirements
- Curiosity and ability to quickly understand complex topics and data sets.
- Strong knowledge of statistical methods like regressions, correlations, and time-series analysis.
- Critical thinking skills to analyze data, identify patterns, and challenge assumptions.
- Proficiency in Python, with experience refining and developing code.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Knowledge of PowerBI.
- Good communication skills to translate user needs into models and scripts.
- Experience in energy markets is a plus but not required.
