Cadent is the UK's largest Gas Distribution Company, operating 4 of the 8 UK Gas Distribution Networks (East of England, London, NorthWest, and West Midlands). Their service spans over 131,000 kilometres of pipes, supplying to 11 million homes & businesses. Costain is the preferred bidder for the East of England Construction Management organisation (CMO). The role involves strategic planning and programme management of Cadent's capital investment programme, focusing on regulatory performance and future-proofing the network for Cadent's customers. The position requires coordination of personnel, local delivery partners (LDPs), site management, customer care officers, supervision, and technical support for construction activities across the East of England network. The goal is to maximize customer experience, meet Costain's commitments to Cadent, and promote safety and compliance standards.
Responsibilities
- Promote and develop high safety standards, leading by example.
- Develop and monitor work programmes to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to standards and policies.
- Act as competent person for Flow Stopping and Commissioning Operations.
- Manage supply chain performance to meet contract objectives.
- Advocate for the contract with local authorities to promote Cadent activities.
- Manage engineering teams to optimize operations and ensure high standards of customer service and safety.
- Support the Area Manager in identifying improvements and leading initiatives.
- Engage staff through team talks, safety briefings, and development activities.
- Investigate customer queries, claims, and complaints professionally.
- Assist with incident reporting, investigations, and remedial actions.
- Work towards Temporary Works Supervisor duties.
- Monitor performance, foster teamwork, and promote an injury-free culture.
- Carry standby and call-out duties as required.
- Perform other reasonable duties related to the role.
Qualifications
- Previous gas supervisory experience (Essential).
- Experience with SCO procedures (Essential).
- Leadership skills to influence and drive performance.
- Site management experience.
- High safety and customer service standards.
- Knowledge of relevant codes, safety, and statutory regulations.
- Experience in delivering safe and compliant work.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
- Current UK driving license.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- UMSTS / SMSTS certification.
