Ingredient Buyer

Here at innocent, we’re on a mission to make it easier for everyone to get more fruit and veg into their bodies. We started back in 1999 and since then we’ve gone from selling a few smoothies at a music festival to becoming one of Europe’s biggest drinks companies with around 1,000 people (and the B Corp seal of approval).

It’s nice to be able to say things like that but we’re not patting ourselves on the back just yet. We want to show everyone that it’s possible to be a successful business while looking after people and the planet too, so we’re trying to get better in pretty much every way. And that’s where this job comes in.

What you\’ll be doing

It\’s hard to make our drinks without fruit, so we\’re looking for someone to source it for us. Here\’s a bit more about what the role involves:

1. You will be sourcing ingredients, building long-term relationships with suppliers, and managing a diverse ingredient portfolio.
2. Challenging and negotiating on costs, finding creative cost savings, and ensuring we always have enough ingredients to fuel the supply chain.
3. Leading resilience projects and working closely with our Fruit Tech and Sustainability teams to ensure security of supply and mitigate risks.
4. Developing long-term strategic plans for your ingredient portfolio, considering future challenges and opportunities.

You\’ll have

We\’ve outlined a few key qualities and experiences that would be important for you to have. Buying fruit can be more complex than it seems:

1. Experience in ingredient or fruit buying.
2. Negotiation and commercial experience.
3. A good understanding of supply chain processes.
4. Ability to think end-to-end.
5. Willingness to challenge processes and ways of working.
6. A strategic mindset and ability to develop long-term plans.
7. Strong Excel and analytical skills.
